What are you doing for National Recycling Week?

With National Recycling Week two weeks away, you still have time to plan an event or activity in your school, home or office.

National Recycling Week (Monday 13 to Sunday19 November 2017)  is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our recycling achievements but also a chance to recognise and consider the challenges ahead.

The theme for this year is ‘What Goes Around: Why Buying Recycled Matters’, which highlights why recycling is only part of the battle. Consumers and businesses need to close the recycling loop by purchasing products that contain recycled materials.

Choosing Australian-made recycled office paper and 100 per cent recycled toilet tissue are easy ways for any household or workplace to create an economic incentive for businesses to use recycled materials.

It's always a good time of year to promote recycling so, if the timing doesn’t suit, don't feel limited by these dates!

MWRRG staff are proud to be great recyclers all year around. Our most recent yearly office audit found we had a recycling rate of 88 per cent, and this continues to improve year on year.

Other community groups, businesses and councils are running activities such as:

  • recycling facility tours
  • ‘How to reduce waste’ workshops
  • produce and clothing swaps
  • Friday File Flings at the office.
