Recycling Collaborative Procurement project update
MWRRG’s recycling collaborative procurement project is shifting scope from securing long term infrastructure contracts to a short term service provision.
The revised scope involves establishing a panel of contractors from existing commingled recycling processing operators. Short term contracts will be negotiated with the option to extend (e.g. 3+2+2 years).
Panel contracts will provide councils with short term continuity in kerbside recycling processing and allow us to build on the outcomes of Recycling Victoria reforms, helping us deliver a better long term infrastructure outcome for recycling processing in Victoria.
MWRRG will lead the panel contract procurement and provide participating councils in metropolitan Melbourne and Barwon South West with a solution to enter short term recycling processing contracts from 1 July 2022.
Gippsland Waste and Resource Recovery Group will continue working with their councils on procuring new kerbside recycling processing infrastructure.
