Record turnout for Frankston Detox your Home event

Almost seven tonnes of toxic household chemicals were safely disposed of at a Detox your Home event in Skye hosted by Frankston City Council on Saturday 2 February.

More than 300 people – some travelling from as far as Preston and Broadmeadows – attended the event, demonstrating householders’ commitment to ‘doing the right thing’.

Of the 326 householders at the event (a 45 % increase on last year’s figure), 64 % were first time attendees.

Detox your Home is part of the Householder Chemical Collection Program, which this year celebrates 25 years of operation across Victoria. A program review is currently underway, with eight stakeholder workshops across the state during February and March 2019. If you haven’t been able to attend a session and would like to provide feedback about the program delivery model, including suggestions for improvement, please contact Lorraine Lilley at Sustainability Victoria on 03 8626 8733 or lorraine.lilley@sustainability.vic.gov.au
